What Can Technology Do for You?

Arthur C. Clarke wrote in Profiles of the Future, “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” So, what can technology do for you?

The right technology can magically convert instructions into repeatable processes, encouraging creativity while improving the quality of your writing.

Consistency Unlocks Greatness!

Unless you have an exceptional memory, you probably encountered problems applying what you learned from books, videos, and podcasts.

For example, after reading an inspiring book, you wanted to implement the lessons. But the head knowledge you gained had yet to become intuitive, so you went back to the source material—again and again.

Worse, after days and weeks, you noticed those lessons had escaped into the netherworld, that foggy region of your brain where retrieving knowledge becomes impossible. Frustrated, you repeated the reading exercise—again and again.

So you took notes—lots of them. You soon discovered that the problem with applying knowledge had not gone away. Instead of referring to the book, you went back to your notes—again and again.

The compulsion to complete your story torments you. I know that pain. It’s the motivation for my podcast, Story Slayer, where technology is your weapon. I want to help you end the agony of an unfinished novel.

Technology Enhances Your Learning

The learning process has four stages:

  • Initially, you are unaware of a missing skill.
  • But then you become aware of what’s missing.
  • Next, you learn and practice a new skill.
  • And finally, your skill use becomes intuitive.

Here’s the magic. At the beginning of Stage Three, use technology to capture what you learned from books, videos, or podcasts, making the desired actions and references available for immediate recall with one or two keystrokes.

Once you codify the process into your technology of choice, it becomes repeatable, enhancing your ability to produce consistent results.

  • PublisherRocket to research book ideas, genres, keywords, and profitability.
  • MailerLite to stay in touch with subscribers.
  • Canva Pro to create book trailers and social media images.
